📋 Ingredients
For the Steak:
- 2–4 ribeye, filet mignon, or sirloin steaks
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 sprigs thyme or rosemary (optional, for basting)
For the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:
- ½ lb (225g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup chicken broth or white wine
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional, for richness)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or green onion, chopped (for garnish)
- A squeeze of lemon (optional)
🔥 Instructions
1. Sear the Steaks
Pat steaks dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over high heat and add olive oil or butter.
Sear steaks for 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness. During the last minute, add smashed garlic and herbs, and baste with the flavorful butter.
Remove steaks from the pan and let them rest under foil while you prepare the sauce.
2. Cook the Shrimp
Toss shrimp in Cajun seasoning.
In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until just pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
3. Make the Creamy Cajun Sauce
Lower the heat to medium.
Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds.
Deglaze with chicken broth or wine, scraping up any browned bits from the steak and shrimp.
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan (if using). Simmer for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce slightly thickens.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more Cajun spice. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss in the sauce until warmed through.
4. Plate & Serve
Place your rested steaks on plates and spoon the creamy Cajun shrimp sauce generously over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley, lemon juice, or a dusting of extra Cajun seasoning.
